Born in the Netherlands, Femke established herself in Montreal after her recorder studies at the Utrecht Conservatory. She first works as an assistant with recorder maker Jean-Luc Boudreau, and soon starts performing with numerous ensembles, but mainly Les Boréades de Montréal, with whom she has toured in Europe and Canada. As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras in Victoria, Calgary, Québec, Ottawa and Toronto. Her interest in medieval music leads her to studying the vielle as well as voice. Co-founder of the ensemble Eya, she also performs with other ensembles like Estavel and Alkemia in Montreal. With Reverdies Montreal, she has taken part in the organization of the Medieval music days since 2012. She teaches at CAMMAC music camps, among others.
