Hooman Tootoonchian is a Toronto based musician, music educator and cultural arts leader. He is the Founder and CEO of Rhythmitica Inc., a music education academy with more than 10 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and structured music programming. He is also the Founder of RiTMiTiKiDS, Rhythmitica’s children’s division focused on early childhood music education, and a Co founder and Board Member of RitmoPaint Arts for Children Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to arts and cultural programs for children and youth.
Hooman began learning music at a young age and continues his work as both a performer and educator. His artistic focus includes Persian percussion instruments such as Daf, Tombak and Dayereh. He is also professionally active as a recorder player, with an interest in Baroque, Renaissance and folk music traditions from different cultures.
A major part of Hooman’s work is creating meaningful music experiences for children in schools. He specializes in rhythm based education, group drumming, ensemble leadership and preparing students for live performances. His approach combines structure, creativity, cultural learning and teamwork, helping students build confidence, focus, listening skills and a strong sense of community through music.
Through Daf ensembles and rhythm based workshops, Hooman introduces students to the power of rhythm, cultural expression and collaborative music making. He is especially passionate about helping young learners experience the joy of performing together.
